As our community transitions back to a new normalcy, Victory Mission is keeping a close eye on potential risks to our fellow friends and staff. We want to support the health of the population we serve. To err on the side of caution, all non-essential volunteers and visitors will have limited access to our facilities.
Victory’s Lifted classes were postponed mid-March. Victory has continued to distribute meals to those who regularly attend classes. Victory will reopen its doors for Workshops and Classes beginning July 6.
Food and Clothing Pantry
In April, Victory changed distribution points for our food pantry to better promote social distancing and protect the population we serve. As we distributed groceries from multiple sites, we realized there was capacity to serve even more families. Victory has launched a Mobile Pantry, which can be found in various Springfield locations.
Victory’s Restoration Program for women is accepting applications. Interviews and orientations for women interested in the program have begun. Any women or volunteers who enter our facilities will be asked to wear face coverings and have their temperatures monitored.
Classes for Victory’s Restoration program for men have resumed. Some classes continue to meet virtually, while others can be held while maintaining social distancing. Teachers and volunteers who enter Victory facilities will have their temperatures taken and will be asked to wear face coverings. Men’s Restoration continues to accept applications and conduct interviews for the program.
Victory will continue to serve new clients. Individuals who are experiencing homelessness must go through a screening process to determine if they are candidates for receiving overnight shelter at Victory Square. Upon arrival, men seeking shelter will have their temperature taken. Anyone with a temperature below 100.4 degrees (following CDC guidelines) and free of symptoms will be offered overnight shelter, pending availability.
Hourly cleaning and disinfecting are taking place throughout Victory Square. Additionally, reminder announcements explaining proper hygiene and social distancing techniques are being shared with men staying at the Square.
Residents of the Men’s Restoration program continue to reside at an off-site location in order to maintain social distancing in living quarters for residents of the Men’s Shelter.
Warehouse + Donation Center
The Warehouse + Distribution Center has reopened with operating hours Monday – Friday 8 am – 2 pm. Consider helping our Warehouse Ministry as a Clothing Team volunteer, where you’ll work closely with people new to Victory Mission’s Restoration Program that are building essential work skills.
One last thing.
At Victory Mission, we believe in the power of prayer. Pray with us for recovery throughout the world. Pray for the health and safety of the vulnerable population we serve. Ask God to enable Victory Mission to continue to share God’s love with men and women facing crisis situations in our community.
