24TH ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL

All Children Deserve a Chance to Learn with Confidence

Our 24th Annual Back to School 2013 is scheduled for August 6 at Central Assembly of God. To date, throughout more than two decades, this outreach has blessed over 53,000 K-12 students with school supplies, Scholastic books and clothing to help them succeed in school. This year, we hope to assist 2,500 deserving children.

If you are a family that needs assistance, please register your children for this program:

Date:   July 15-27 (every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays only)
Time:   9am-4pm (weekdays) and 10am-2pm (Saturdays)
Venue: Ministry Center, 2nd floor, 1715 N. Boonvile (weekdays) and Victory Vintage Thrift Store, 824 W. Commercial (Saturdays)

*An original social security card or government DFS print out must be presented for each child.
*Each adult must present a photo ID, social security card and proof of income.


If you would like to help with this outreach, you can:

1) Give a BTS Scholarship - just $35 provides school supplies, clothing and a $20 gift card.
2) Organize a drive for school supplies and new or gently used clothing. Click here for a list of supplies.

4) Help us raise funds by selling $1 cardboard school buses if you own or manage a store or restaurant.

Pursuing our Mission of Hope

Recognizing Jim & Mary Harriger for 20 years of ministry to the Springfield community
 

We invite you to join our staff, volunteers and friends at this special benefit gala as we honor our Executive Director Jim Harriger and his wife, Mary, for their compassionate leadership and heartfelt dedication to bringing hope to the least of these in our community.

Date: June 21, 2013 (Friday)
Time: 6:30pm
Venue: Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central E.
Cost: $25 per ticket


The evening program includes hors d'oeuvres, entertainment by 4Calvary, a Southern Gospel quartet, and silent and live auctions. All proceeds benefit our programs and services.

GIVING THE NEEDY HOPE TO HOLD ON TO

Operation Hope Tote, which runs from March 1-29, is our special Easter season outreach to Springfield's homeless and poor. With the help of the community, we collect personal hygiene items and distribute them to our city's neediest neighbors. It's a great way to visibly show we care!

Items Needed (new and unopened):
- Toothpaste & toothbrush         

- Shampoo & conditioner          
- Body wash
- Hand & body lotion

Deodorant                            

- Razor & shaving cream         
- Lib balm
- Hairbrush & comb
- Hand sanitizer
- Sanitary pad & tampon           

How You Can Help: 
1) Fill a Hope Tote

- Pick up Hope Tote bag(s) from our Ministry Center (2nd floor), 1715 N. Boonville or contact Emily Yeap at 417.864.2213 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to request for one.
- Fill the bag with any of the items listed above and return it to our Ministry Center, Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm by March 29. You may also use your own bags/boxes.

2) Purchase the items from an online vendor and ship your donation to:

3) Hold a drive at your church, workplace, school or community group

We're looking forward to another exciting event this year! Join us in our effort to raise much-needed funds and create awareness about hunger, poverty and homelessness in our community.

Date: October 13, 2013 (Sunday)
Time: Registration (11am to 1pm); Departure (1:30pm); Post-ride Party (3pm)
Venue: Cook's Kettle Restaurant, 200 W. Commercial St.
Cost: $20 (single); $30 (double); $5 (spectators' meal)

Riders go on a 40 t0 50-mile scenic ride through the Ozarks countryside. The event will also feature food, raffles, prizes and live music by Triple Play.
